AAWGT: Making a difference in our community!

November 28 Seminar on racial inequity

AAWGT co-hosted, along with the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth and Families, a half-day seminar on racial inequity led by the Racial Equity Institute. Dr. Pam Brown, executive director of the partnership, provided Anne Arundel data that paralleled the national research presented by the Racial Equity Institute. Sponsors included Maryland Hall, Sonja Swygert, Anne Arundel County Public Libraries, the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County and United Way of Maryland. The event concluded with a quote from Vital Voices, an international women’s organization: “There is a decisive moment, a tipping point, when activism and leadership of a few stir the imagination of others enough to create a new reality.” Added AAWGT President Betsy Chotin, “That is what we hope for Anne Arundel County.” Read about the event in the Capital Gazette.
