OUR GRANTS PROGRAM

Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT) funds proposals that seek to improve the quality of life for women and families located in Anne Arundel County. We accept applications only from 501(c)(3) nonprofits that are in compliance with Maryland state laws.

2022 Grant Process:

The Call for Applications is released on Monday, January 3, 2022, and the online application is then available. View the Call HERE.

Our ZOOM Grant Applicant Workshop will be held in two identical sessions on Thursday, January 13 at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. Registration is available for both sessions on the Events Page of our website. Slides from the presentation will be available on the AAWGT website after January 13.

Grant applications are due Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:59 pm; this is a firm deadline.

AAWGT members evaluate the applications in a careful process with successful proposals being placed on a ballot for membership voting in mid-May. Applicants eliminated at earlier points or after voting are promptly notified.

Grants for 2022 will be awarded from $5,000 to $20,000 based on the following:

For 2022 there will be a single type of grant. AAWGT will consider applications from a wide variety of organizations as we have in the past. Rather than have separate grant types, AAWGT will communicate a special focus for the grant cycle.

Focus Statement

AAWGT is particularly interested in proposals that support women and families and also prioritize issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) when addressing the underlying causes of hardship (such as childhood hunger, higher mortality rates, educational disparities, homelessness and mental health) and/or come from organizations with IRS Gross Receipts of less than $100,000.

The focus statement is not meant to eliminate organizations from applying for one of our grants. Instead, we hope to encourage organizations that fall within the focus areas to submit a grant proposal.

Going forward, organizations that receive grants for two consecutive years will not be eligible to apply for the following two years.

Applicants will be asked to identify if and how the needs identified in “Poverty Amidst Plenty” are considered in their proposal. This CFAAC report can be downloaded here: https://www.accounts.org/boards-and-commissions/partnership-for-children-youth-families/forms-and-publications/2018-needs-assessment-poverty.pdf

We fund operating expenses either as part of an organization’s core operations or as a separate proposal.
